Wright - Francis M.

Source: Crawfordsville Weekly Journal Friday, 5 March 1897

Francis M. Wright was born July 15, 1835; died March 1, 1897, almost 62 years of age. He had been a victim of the grip since its appearance in this part of the county and which with the complication of other diseases terminated in the fatal Bright’s disease.

He was well known all over the country. He had been an active member of the M. E. Church, having been a local preacher for over twenty years. Deceased was married to Ellen Sakon in 1860, who after having been an invalid for ten years, is left to mourn the loss of the kind loving companion of their peaceful life. The death angel took from them, in her pure womanhood, Ora, their first child, but two children, James W. and Mrs. George Foxworthy, are still left to comfort and care for the sorrowing wife and mother.

Of the family of five children, two still remain, a brother and sister, Rev. J. E. Wright and Mrs. Eliza Peterson. The mother, Mrs. Nancy Wright, was laid to rest five years ago.

The funeral services were conducted at the residence, one and one half miles north of Ladoga, Wednesday morning by Rev. Ivy, pastor of the M. E. Church, and Elder Ridge, of the Christian Church. Interment was at the Harshbarger Cemetery.
